ML 80 Wireless Headphones
The ML 80 wireless headphones with Bluetooth® aptX™ Low Latency can be connected to EQUINOX for fast, clear wireless audio and greater freedom of operation.
Connecting the Headphones with Equinox 600 and 800 Models
Pairing the ML 80 headphones is required only upon first use. EQUINOX will automatically reconnect with the headphones for all future uses. Reconnection is required if another wireless device (e.g., WM 08) is connected to the detector or after a factory reset of the detector.
- Ensure the wireless headphones are turned off and within 1 meter of the detector.
- Press and hold the multi-function button on the ML 80 headphones until you hear 2 ascending tones, and the LED alternates between blue and red.
- Press the wireless connection button on the side of the EQUINOX control panel for 5 seconds until the wireless connection icon starts flashing rapidly. For first-time use of EQUINOX or after a factory reset, a short press of the Wireless button will immediately start the pairing sequence.
- EQUINOX first attempts to pair with the WM 08 module for 15 seconds, indicated by the wireless connection icon flashing on the LCD screen. If WM 08 is not found during this time, EQUINOX will attempt to pair with Bluetooth® headphones for 5 minutes or until the connection is completed. This is indicated by the Bluetooth® icon flashing on the display. The pairing process can be interrupted at any time by pressing the wireless connection button.
- If the connection is successful, the Bluetooth® and Wireless icons will display constantly. The headphones will emit a sound signal, and the status LED will light up blue every 3 seconds. If pairing is unsuccessful within 5 minutes of starting, the headphones will enter standby mode.
Disconnecting ML 80 Headphones
The wireless headphones can be disconnected in the following ways:
- Factory reset of the detector
- Factory reset of the headphones
- Attempting to connect another wireless device of the same type (e.g., another set of Bluetooth® headphones). It is not possible to operate both WM 08 and Bluetooth® headphones simultaneously.
Sound Adjustment
The ML 80 headphones have their own volume control, independent of the detector's volume. Press the Plus (+) or Minus (-) buttons on the headphones to increase or decrease the volume.
ML 80 Factory Settings
A Factory Reset will return the headphones to their factory settings and deactivate all paired wireless devices.
- Turn off the headphones.
- Press and hold the multi-function button for about 10 seconds until the headphones beep twice, and the status LED flashes pink.
- Release the button. The headphones will be in pairing mode, indicated by the LED indicator flashing blue and red.
Charging the ML 80 Headphones
It is recommended to start with fully charged headphones. The ML 80 headphones have an internal lithium-ion battery. Connect the power cable to the USB socket on the headphones.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a USB-A power port.
- The status LED will turn red and remain on during charging.
- Once the battery is fully charged, the LED will turn off.
ML 80 Cable
The ML 80 headphones come with a waterproof detachable auxiliary cable that connects to any standard 3.5 mm (1/8") headphone jack for operation. This allows you to continue detecting even if the headphone battery is empty by connecting the headphone cable to the headphone socket on the back of the EQUINOX control unit. This cable can also be used to connect the headphones to WM 08. WM 08 does not have a speaker and must be used with wired headphones.
Smartphone Functions
The ML 80 headphones can be paired with two devices at once, allowing you to pair them with your smartphone. However, receiving a call will interrupt the detection audio.
Answering a Call
When a call comes in, the ringtone will be heard through the headphones. Press the multi-function button to accept the call.
Rejecting a Call
To reject/ignore an incoming call, press and hold the Multi-Function button for about 2 seconds until you hear a sound signal, then release the button.
Ending a Call
Press the multi-function button to end the call.
